The Red Cross is very strong in providing assistance and you will see our volunteers standing by as first aiders at numerous small and large events. However, there is a lot of organization behind Event Assistance! That is why the Assistance Office exists. All incoming questions from organizations for the use of volunteers end up here. The Red Cross aims to ensure that children no longer go hungry at school. Since March 2023, parents have been able to receive grocery cards at schools. This program is called School Meals. We want as many students as possible to be in class with a full stomach in 2024, so that they can follow the lessons full of energy. Will you help? Unfortunately, we notice that our help does not reach all parents/guardians. This has various reasons, such as not receiving information about the program, misunderstanding the objectives of the program, feelings of shame, language barriers, or concerns about the privacy of their data. In the coming period, we will focus extra on reaching as many parents/guardians as possible. And you can help us to let as many students as possible go to school with a full stomach and lots of energy. What can you do as an educator? In order to increase the number of registrations, we want to support schools more actively with information for parents this school year. An information officer can provide support in consultation with a school, including: • Providing information at a school about the School Meals Program, for both parents/guardians and teachers/mentors, during parent evenings, coffee mornings or open days. • Organizing information at locations such as community centers about the School Meals Program, where parents/guardians of your school can learn more about the program and ask questions. • Offering walk-in consultation hours where parents/guardians can ask questions and receive support in registering for the program. • Providing communication materials such as flyers, business cards and informative letters for the school, in physical or digital form. A connector who enjoys making successful overnight matches between our private host families and our guests, status holders who are linked to the Flevoland region. Status holders are refugees with a residence permit, we call them guests. The overnight stay ensures that both guest and host family learn from each other in an accessible way. The guest gets a unique insight into Dutch culture and the opportunity to master the language and customs. The host family in turn learns a lot about the culture of the guest and almost all host families experience this period as an enrichment. The best thing is if this happens in the municipality where the guest will eventually be assigned a home, the so-called Koppelgemeente. In this way we give status holders a good start in their new region! As a matchmaker you interview our guests at the AZC or elsewhere and our host families at their home. Together with the guest you will meet the host family at home if you estimate that this can be a successful match. The Emergency Response Team responds to accidents and calamities and supports ambulance personnel and other medical professionals. We are looking for one for the Flevoland district Information officer/Guest teacher for primary schools (volunteer) The Red Cross offers various guest lessons in education. This offer consists of online teaching materials that teachers can work with themselves and guest lessons that can be requested by teachers. The online teaching material is coordinated nationally. The guest lessons are provided by regional teams, consisting of volunteers trained in education programs. What are you going to do? You will provide one or more of the following types of lessons: “Savage World” (about natural disasters), “Help! First aid skills for you” and our latest activity: the “Plaster Race”. As an Information Officer/Guest Teacher, you and other volunteers provide guest lessons or information activities at schools or projects. You can indicate which activities and/or guest lessons you find interesting to take up and in which you would like to develop yourself. However, there is a lot of organization behind Event Assistance! That is why the Assistance Office exists. All incoming questions from organizations for the use of volunteers end up here. This not only concerns events, but also other task areas such as giving guest lectures at schools, the telephone circle, food aid, training, etc. All these requests are submitted internally so that Red Cross volunteers can respond. The deployment of all those Red Crossers must of course be well coordinated. The Emergency Services Agency takes care of this and the team in Flevoland now consists of 6 people.
